Those of us migrating from #Twitter (like me) should read this article. I've been here a few days, and have already come to the realization that #Mastodon is an entirely different ecosystem. The worst we can do is treat it as Twitter 2.0. This is a special community worth preserving. Some of the features that might strike the Twitter user as archaic were designed purposely to protect people over here. Somebody rightly pointed out that Mastodon is many cultures - which is true. I don't have an edit button, but I hope my meaning is understood despite my phrasing, above.

@Sophistifunk @DrLindseyFitzharris I strongly agree. To me, it comes across as an old-timer telling all these new kids to get off his lawn. But we're not even ON his lawn. We're over here, on a completely different server. He is welcome to ignore us (as we are to ignore him).
