Tonight's doomer take: YouTube has incentivized a historically unprecedented number of people to learn the art of telling lies and half-truths through images, voice-over and editing.Think of all the reality-bending and opinion-warping the relatively small clique of TV and video producers of the late 20th century were able to do with their comparatively primitive tools, long production times and limited reach, and now we've got that times a million.

@pingviini honestly I just think our current culture incentivizes it in general. Cable TV news, YouTube, Facebook propaganda, hashtag campaigns on Twitter, awful tiktok stuff — can’t put blame on 1 platform as starting it as we’ve always been a society prone to simplistic understandings and susceptibility to sensationalism and propaganda :/

@eposvox I just picked YouTube because it has such large audience. YT gets so much more eyeballs and attention (from users) than Twitter, it's not even a contest.
