It turns out in addition to the normal modes of gene expression - methylation and histone modification - there is hormonal gene expression namely regulated in this case with sex hormones. It turns out that, as you say, we are not talking about a single chemical which is "just" 10-1000 ppb averaged across food and water sources (i.e. RoundUp) but we are actually talking about 30-40 distinct chemical mixtures all of which have multiple toxic compounds (and often multiple toxic effects per compound!) and all of which act synergistically.
