       to people worried about advertisers oogling the fediverse (websites like mastodon):remember that fedi is decentralized. it's a lot of community owned instances. if an instance sucks like mastodon dot social, an unmoderated cesspool due to its size, most decent admins will "defederate" with it meaning you don't see content from it unless you opt-in to.i imagine advertisers do not have this much grasp of decentralized social networks and don't see how this could be a problem for them

       a consequence of decentralization making it harder for brands to spread like a pox is it does also make it harder for artists making a living. so it's more important than ever to boost artists' work here (im an artist but not for a living so decide for urself if this is biased lol)that's also why the absence of quote posting i think helps long term
