@Corfiot While I agree it isnt a good idea to blindly block based off a list without looking into the reasons for entries being on that list, I disagree on the point that you dont block/curate servers. If a server allows bad actors, and you dont want to see bad actors, blocking the server is onne of the best things about the fediverse, that you dont need to block 100,000 people, you can just block 10 servers.That said, if seeing vile human beings pop up from time to time and you just ignore them is something your ok with, then sure, dont block servers (I dont).

You can both be not in any way forced to engage "trolls" (which like "nazis" and other such labels, are often illusory and coming from preconceptions regarding others) while it being completely ideal that you are willing to engage anyone. The unfragile individual engages as many things as possible, especially where dissent lies, of their own volition. Fediblock does not work throughout the fediverse.Alternatively, use hubzilla. Build slowly a list of connections ("contacts") of people of general personal interest. Use content filters appropriately with each connection (e.g. you appreciate a person's content about maths, but not cats, so you create a filter to remove posts about cats and see everything else)

It easy to deal with and the Birdsite of late included tools to restrict comments on posts etc. Methinks many of these folks are used to the echo chamber and some probably need reassurance by the choir. That’s my take - It’s life, just because we have a new medium doesn’t change human behaviour. I’m still on the Birdsite and will be on Mastodon. @bonifartius So i just looked at the list... I do agree the soap box thing is nonsense but as far as I can tell no instances are blocked becaus eof it. In the notes it lists soap box but the reasons listed in each case is not soap box related.

@freemo yeah, maybe i misinterpreted it. still leaves a bit if a foul taste as alex is hated due to him being a "terf" and putting "soapbox fe" into the notes seems to be along the lines of "uses evil terf software".so i still am no fan of the list as it is heavily over-blocking imo, but i not am forced to use it anyway :)

i.m.o, by suggesting the use of the fediblock list, you damage the goals of a sovereign fediverse (sovereignverse). You made no genuine friends with that. I get that some of you are motivated by profit and, hence, your actions will be in line with some of the goals of fascists. Partnering with them is a bad idea. I wish I could understand what is the motivation for maximum federation, and branding instances as Nazi or racist and limiting the liberties of users to access yours, if not profit oriented at some level.

@bushgrad Ive explained the reasons for all of our decisions many times, happy to do so again... but first I need to know what you mean about branding instances and limiting the liverty of users to access ours... @freemo I wouldn't have a clue how to take that file and make it work. I use a phone. But when the weather warms to above 32 at night I will be going to Branson for an overnighter. I can log in on a computer then.When I was on Twitter I blocked all the hatemongers. Everything was fine until Russia invaded Ukraine. Then I had a whole set of vatniks to block.
