Google Fonts illegal in EUhttps://www.usecue.com/blog/google-fonts-illegal-in-eu/This has been confirmed more than six months ago by the German court. In the aforementioned case the website owner had to pay 100 euro to the complainer and faced a penalty payment of up to 250k euro if failing to comply. It is remarkable that Google does not warn developers for this infringement, as it has been illegal for years (and Google should know that). This mentioned law suit did not change the law.🍿

@Khrys I can add to this than US companies which bring you the RGPD ribbons are generally not compliant with it 🥴

@tuxicoman @Khrys I'm not specialist of tactics used by Google. But anytime your browser send a request to a server, cookies goes along. This is the basic theme for tracking. Google centralize a lot of things. And when you use one of their services, you are just a part of a whole. Same can apply for Google and generally for any ad services.

@ludo @tuxicoman @Khrys Does this mean that any web site linking to any asset (picture, sound, JavaScript pack, news article, ...) on a server outside the EU would be breaking the law, because a browser might send a cookie? That sounds like, if rigorously enforced, it would fundamentally break the web.

@tuxicoman @ludo @Khrys if a court believes an IP address is protected information, then the Internet is screwed.
