Good morning, London! Third day of #IETF115. Let's start with a side meeting on "special domain names". What are they? You have the current list here: https://www.iana.org/assignments/special-use-domain-names/special-use-domain-names.xml#special-use-domain

If I understand our chinese colleague correctly, he would like a way to indicate that two unrelated domains (for instance one in latin characters and one in sinograms) are under the same administration. (Something that the current Public Suffix LIst do not provide.)

@bortzmeyerSomeone should design some sort of way of writing domain names that would indicate that one name is the parent of the other. 😉Mostly kidding. I can see how this might be useful in certain cases. Can't organizations that want to do this document it in the registry system, so that it can be queried via WHOIS (or whatever the lastest replacement for WHOIS is)? Or must it be in the DNS?

@frg2m No, you did not. He apparently wanted a way for the domains themselves to declare as "related" (the whole point of DBOUND since otherwise the PSL would suffice).

@frg2m Frankly, I don't understand why you find this strange. It seems perfectly normal to tell the world that something.cn and the same with sinograms are under the same administration, for instance to set cookies. His requirments are reasoanble. The solutions are not.
