Thinking of blocking the entire journa.host instance. Definitely some great people on there, but also complete scum; and they’re “debating” CW’s are “worth the effort” etc.C’mon, be good neighbors. It’s not hard.

People, *blocking* doesn't mean "banishing from the surface of the Earth"—just that I personally don't want to read it, especially during some initial, confusing phase. There's many amazing journalists on that server who I admire (and follow for that matter!).There's also unfortunately a bunch right-wing fartwaffles on the server—who can all go fuck themselves.Thusly I'm thinking of blocking the entire instance (for me), until they figured out how to be good neighbors.

@thomasfuchs @PlatinumWarlock Slightly relatedly, french has «se gaufrer» (~ waffling yourself) which is for someone's falling/failing, particularly something like a faceplant. And it's the verb form of «gaufre» which means "waffle".

@roboneko @thomasfuchs @breizh Not at all. NSFW is typicall **FW** so it's completly contextual and should be more selectable tag than CW. NSFW content on my own desktop must be displayed but not on my work laptop for example.

@aeris @roboneko @thomasfuchs In practice I don’t use CW (for me it’s only a subject, not a protection, for your protection use filtering on your side), I’ll probably use the +18tag for NSFW or gore, but for text I don’t see the point (if your triggered by reading text, it’s obvious that you’ll be triggered by reading the CW).And on my side I disabled all that things (CW aren’t masking the toots, and +18 tagged pictures are always displayed).But I filtered some things on my side.

consider that there is fediverse software that does not display CW, and does not make room for users to enter CW. I'm a GNU social user, where this is the case, and I'm quite concerned about this "new" rule that I can't possibly comply with, no matter how much I would like to. are mastodon nodes planning to block every node that doesn't support CW?
