       What would be ideal is if Governments and NGOs didn't join a large instance but instead stood up their own instance. Yes it's more money for an already stretched thin budget, but it's not *that* much more money. We're talking thousands a year, not tens-of-thousands. O&M too. Not Capital.Imaging if instead of every NWS office in the US having a separate account on Twitter like they do today, or on some instance here, that NOAA stood up it's own instance and every office had an account.Want verification that the account and message is real? The verification is embedded in the source.Same for Earthquakes. If the USGS ran it's own fedi server then every Seismometer and volcano observatory could all send out updates.Again, we're talking thousands a year in OpEx/O&M. MAYBE 10s of thousands but that would be a stretch and only if something was way, way, way over-architected.Just a thought.Hopefully someone is listening.

       @gme I was going to say that they all stand up their own email servers, so setting up federated ActivityPub servers should be no big deal....except so many of them have moved to Office 365 Government and/or other similar offerings. Gosh, think if Microsoft wrote an ActivityPub plugin for Teams or Yammer.
