       For years, artists and theorists demanded a "demetrification" of social media (see in particular the work of Ben Grosser). But now that some measures are actually implemented (e.g. users can hide the amount of likes on Instagram)  I find myself perplexed. Metrics still exist and shape what users see, but now users don't even have access to the numerical clue of the algo's working, leading to the deceitful image that an influencer with a massive followers base is the same as a user with 3 friends. What if we need more numbers instead of less? Shouldn't we be able to check the numbers if we want to?
