Hello all❤️ I am so sorry for all the issues on mstdn.social the past days.. :sad_cat: Two nights ago over 11K new people joined mstdn.social via invite links while I was asleep and this made the total active people on here to 53K. The current issue / battle I'm fighting is to keep up with the background jobs for proccessing toots, follows, etc etc. Please know that I'm doing my best. @stux Fantastic news but it's also highlighting some major challenges: how is Mastodon going to be a solid platform without financial backing in order to maintain a strong server network? Many of us remember the old days when Twitter went dark due to system overload. @stux from what I'm gathering the servers are not really scalable? And Ruby is not the fastest language there is either. PHP for example is 5 to 10 *TIMES* faster in most cases (judging by the Benchmark game)

Seems every instance is db bound once there are enough workers, etc. Is the fediverse going to have to manually load-balance people (as you are doing with masto.ai)?
