I love the extra sets of "retro" caps. There's an extractor tool to make them easy to swap.Too bad #System76 didn't include a Ctrl key with the right shape to replace the useless Caps Lock key!

@AAMfP All keys are programmable anyway... you can add accented letters anywhere you like. The only problem is that they don't sell key caps with the matching engravings...https://system76.com/accessories/launch/download#system76

@codewiz I just noticed, mod/super+number here too actually, this is how less I actually watch it when hitting the keys..ctrl+cursor-right/left also for switching, but as that only switches between screens already in use I often mod+number to switch to fresh ones and run things there.IIRC you are on plasma, that one is preallocating the screens, sway is not doing that.

@codewizCool indeed. At the moment I'm actually thinking about a YMDK 65% with QMK-programmable PCB. They even have side-printed PBT keycaps with Italian ISO layout!https://fosstodon.org/@AAMfP/108890843150961762

@codewizIt would have been even nicer if they'd been QMK-compatible, instead of "wasting" man power for their own configurator, but indeed a nice keyboard.

For some reason, the default layout of the #system76 Launch keyboard has Alt-Fn-Super rather than the more canonical Fn-Super-Alt for PC keyboards. Here is how it compares to my trusty Happy Hacker Keyboard, on which I typed almost every day for the past 15 years 🥲

The layout chosen by #System76 also differs from regular Mac keyboards and canonical PC keyboards.I wonder if they were trying to make Ctrl and Alt easier to reach with the pinky? But I always remap Ctrl to Caps, so I can move Fn there. On keyboards without the F-key row, the Fn key gets used often.

@codewiz You have one row less than me, so Fn is more important.. for the bottom row I settled with crtl, ctrl, super, alt, space^2, alt, Fn, ctrl.Almost never using Fn.

@codewiz@loke @patrick This keyboard is really interresting. But I'd never use it. Too much finger travel. Less is more. I have a keyboard with low key count and layers. This is game changer as it brings all keys close. So finger travel is minimized. And it changes everything.

@codewiz That HHKB looks well loved! I've a Filco Majestouch and absolute love it, but one day I will want to try the HHKB, heard great things

@codewiz @loke @colin_brosseau @patrick IMHO, the Sun Type 5/5c keyboard was by far the best one for typing on. A real beaut. When the Type 5 was introduced circa 1992, a lot of the existing Sun userbase complained "but it isn't a Type 4 keyboard". Strange how change effects some, huh? To prove that point, I should admit that I found Sun's later Type 6 keyboard to be flimsy and utterly horrible to use!
