Because twit.social doesn't use relays, our Federated timeline consists only of toots from people our members follow. In other words, it's the Friends of Your Friends timeline.I prefer it that way because you good people tend to follow other good people. It's not, however, a firehose à la Twitter. There isn't really anything like that. But as long as we keep looking for interesting people to follow on other instances the Federated Timeline should also grow and enliven.

@leo Agreed, friends-of-friends is a very useful feed.

@leo I love it this way. I've found so many good people on the federated tab!

@leo That is exactly how small instances should behave - to preserve their character. In fact the only instance I considered relaying with was twit.social

@leo I love it this way. The only problem is how interesting it makes the federated feed. I have to be careful not to get sucked in while I should be working.

@leo What apps are people using to view the federated or local feed. Seems like the main iOS app atleast doesn’t have those views (or I just haven’t figured it out). Or are people just seeing this on the web?

@leo it sounds 'restrictive', but in reality, it doesn't appear to be... I agree with other folks who have commented on this toot... so far, the Federated Timeline has been interesting, and always with new content... I've found some new people to follow and I've seen some pretty 'interesting' things... it appears that some of the folks on twit.social have followed some interesting accounts! LOL! 🤣

@leo There's the rub: finding "interesting people to follow" is feeling tough

@leo At least until any of your users start following @tchambers and/or @rysiek, they are nothing short of human relays ;-)
