@curtis I don't understand, what's their interest on not advertising on a place just because it doesn't align with their "beliefs"?

@coffee @curtis Advertising costs money. Spending money advertising on a platform which falls out of favor with your customers, your employees, or both is counterproductive and tarnishes brand loyalty and value. It also goes back on any previous efforts made to solidify the kind of social values the company intends to have.

@curtis That's the fun part, these companies are exercising their own freedom of speech by refusing to do business with a company which has dropped their standards to near zero. This isn't anti-free speech. This is just business. It's important to know the difference.

On the surface, businesses are expected to make pure business decisions, to best match their fiduciary responsibility to their investors. However, we are in an absurd timeline, where many large businesses are taking a politically polarized position, and actually harming their bottom line.I call that condition Institutional Self-HarmThe cause of this institutional self-harm requires deeper analysis than the normal assumption of pure business interests being at work

@curtis I'm totally okay with businesses making sacrifices to be able to draw the line at accepting hate speech as valid.I'd rather buy from a company which makes this choice over ones which tolerate it.
