I can vote by mail but I choose not to.In the USSR, they ran elections even when there was only one candidate. This was because if nobody showed up to vote, they could gauge that that population was not happy with the election.We are essentially in a one party system with one candidate each. So, I choose not to vote. When turnout is 5%, nobody will say that we live in a democracy. The push to get every Tom, Diego, and Lahiah voting is less about making sure the right people vote and more to keep this façade running for as long as possible.

@josh Unpopular opinion but whatever, I'm not know for popular ones.At least where I am, local voting has mattered, you can actually make real change voting in your local town/school committee/councilman elections, we have gone far right in this town the last couple years and the schools removed all CRT as well as early sex-ed curriculum and removed three principals who refused to enforce it.Even the Gov race here in 2021, we have seen significant change locally since Youngkin was put in. :pepeGlasses:

@cyberiasec @josh I realized local elections mattered when I went to one community planning meeting and the city planner and mayor were excitedly telling us all about the “wonderful changes this new tax revenue will bring”, like herman miller chairs in their office, a fully enclosed parking garage for city hall, and new cars for the police department (to replace their 6 year old cars) All we needed to have all those wonderful gifts? A payday loan, weed shop, mexican panaderia, walmart, and maybe someday even a COSTCO (which they were real excited about)

On the east, the hood.It's very stark because a train track and elevated highway runs alongside it, so there's a big gap of more than a couple yards. @josh If I recall correctly, in China they only have one candidate per position, but there has to be a certain threshold of voter turnout or else they aren't elected. Instead the office remains empty until they can get someone who the people will enjoy more. If we did this in the US I think most of congress would be empty. Thank you friend.
