       I&#39;ve been a &quot;Verified&quot; user on birdsite for 10+ years. But since I&#39;m more than OK with losing that blue checkmark and making this place my new living room, I just donated $8 to the admin of my Mastodon instance.        @rob You know? I honestly wouldn&#39;t mind getting some distance from that thing. I&#39;ve always felt like more of a &quot;target&quot; on Twitter because of it, especially when I was doing journalism or working at AMD.

       @killyourfm @Sammy8806 true for some instance admins I believe the massive influx of users over the past days is a problem but also for the entire Network. (But also a problem in a good way) my instance went off for a bit today too because thousands of people joined in but @trumpet our Admin is always super quick and responsive to issues and raising the capacity&#39;s.For smaller instances the admins just need to be careful to close down registration to the instance before it collapses.
