if people used decimeters for measuring height or distance or really anything maybe i'd be happier with metric system, but they don't. what's the point of having something if you don't really use it? for what it's worth i still like it more overall but imperial definitely does have its benefits.>My precise measurement would be 6 feet, 3 and a half inches. Which sucks to say or type.6'3.5" easy."six foot three point five" or "six foot three and a half" for speaking. it's not that bad. it's even easier if you just say a whole number, because you can simple it more to "six four" and people will know that you are six feet and four inches tall. even if you're just saying the number of your height in centimeters that's still taking one word off and sometimes syllables.last time i had my height officially measured i was 5'9 3/4" but i always just say i'm 5'10" because it's close enough anyway and the effect of gravity on your height could be that big of a difference anyway (it can be as much as an inch difference). it is much easier for me to just ballpark saying i'm 5'10" ("five ten") than saying i'm 177cm ("one seven seven" or god forbid "one hundred seventy seven").if we could use meters and decimeters in the same way, perhaps i could say i am 1 meter and 8 decimeters, which could be written as 1'8" although, then it would be unsuitably less precise for measuring height imo. feet/inches is a pretty good sweet spot of convenience and accuracy.i believe the clothing world tends to use inches as well. why, i'm not sure, but that's standard there for measurements. maybe it has something to do with the fact that it ISN'T as precise as centimeters, so there can be a little bit of wiggle room if things weren't measured perfectly or if someone bends the wrong way, etcetera.it seems like most of the world uses a mix of both depending on the application and that's just dandy with me.

@beardalaxy Yes that can seem not intuitive, but we say, I'm 1m74 and we don't have to do some infernal math in our heads to know it's equal to 174cm or 17.4dm or (god forbid) 0.00174 KmAnd I'm french, so it's even worse to prounounce (1 meter seventy-fourteen if translate directly)

@beardalaxy But strangely, where we don't use much decimeter or decigram, we often use decilter
