       @skrishna Great article, thanks for sharing.I think the note about “Mastodon has its own culture” is super important. Yes, it’s expected that those of us leaving the bird site come here with certain habits and expectations. However, the Mastodon community existed before we got here and there’s a lot we can (un)learn about our relationship with social media from the wider community.

       @straydogstrut @skrishna I think there's a strong argument for us #TwitterRefugees to try and conform to this new space -- not only because it's polite but also because we may, unknowingly, risk bringing bad habits and potentially toxic engagement to yet another platform.In the week I've been here I've noticed many more ACTUAL CONVERSATIONS and almost no memes or snarky dunking on each other. We'd be well served to follow the OG's example and maintain that, if we can.
