@EU_Commission Are you working on a framework for house ownership as well? In The Netherlands housing is very difficult to come by at affordable prices due to hoarding by investors that then speculate with the prices for rent

@EU_Commission This looks like a great initiative. Are you at the public consultation stage? Is there more information available about this proposal at this point?

@EU_Commission please establish same valid rules or taxes regulation for all EU members and not in local level. It makes easier for tourists and hosts.

@EU_Commission While you are at it, maybe you should also look at the long term rental scams. I've noticed a lot of them on #facebook .Basic schema is like this:1) scammer offers to rent a great flat for little money 2) when contacted, they claim that they cannot meet because they are already abroad, but offer to let the potential customers inspect the flat if they deposit some money in their account.3) grab the money and disappear.

@EU_Commission short term rental is a disaster affecting people who try to find accommodation at acceptable rates and those who don’t want to live in a state of permanent rave imposed by careless visitors. Short term rental is a plague and it needs careful rules, not the current free for all, which is victimising communities, so that a few can profit inordinately

@EU_Commission This might seem simple but right now there is no central framework for registering or auditing short-term rentals. What we have is piecemeal solutions popping up in various major tourist cities heavily affected by short-term rentals. Each of these require some form of registration and limitations and this fragmentation makes it really expensive to solve this on both the government and OTA (Online Travel Agency) sides of the equation.
