I was wondering how a digital diaspora church could actually function. How would you do ordination, or sacraments? How would you get a pastor? I had some ideas. Then I realised. Bruh, my brick and mortar doesn't have a priest. My brick and mortar can't ordain people and provide the sacraments. I talk to my racist internet pastor more than I have all other pastors combined in the past 3 years. And he talks about the things I have concerns about.Damn... The important thing here is that it's not a comparison of the digital diaspora to the church I wish I had. It's a comparison of the digital diaspora to the brick and mortar I have.So yeah, @SuperLutheran what are your ideas relating to ordination, sacraments, and the plumbing required for a distributed church?

       This seems dystopian.

I think the key is to have a parish at the center of every town not having weird Web3 churches.

@Maximus @SuperLutheran Yeah I wish I could have that too. And right now I go to a physical church. But in ten years it’s likely that I won’t have those options and when that comes what should I do?The church in my country will schism in the next ten years. They will ordain women. They will do digital communion and baptisms. They will affirm indigenous idolatry. They will have a massive demographic collapse. They will revisit their teaching on gays. They will divert church funds to climate change. They will prostrate themselves in white guilt. And the only growth will be brown ESL.I have spoke with the higher ups. I’ve spoken to the people in my diocese responsible for reversing this whose job title is “fix the decline”. They are doing nothing and see nothing wrong with it. I am doing what I can, I want to fix things. But it would be unreasonable and foolish for me to not see the writing on the wall and act accordingly.I basically already run a house church, in a church. I know of one congregation who was thrown out of their church and had the locks changed by the higher ups because they wouldn’t do the gay. I need live and act accordingly to that possible future.I’m all ears, I want options. If there are other things I can do let me know.

@yearsofincense Sorry for the late reply, I was running around all day yesterday.I'm currently hammering out the details, but suffice it to say that in the beginning we will have to rely on a deacon certification program for the administration of the Sacrament (which has been done before in Church history). Those who might not qualify to be deacons can be certified for lay leadership, shere they'll be responsible for arranging access to Communion,, Baptism, etc.Meanwhile I'm providing Bible studies, sermons (to be read aloud or just played straight from the Soundcloud), liturgy coming soon, and on-call counseling/conflict resolution. Over time, there will be a colloquy process for ordination, so that house churches that want to "level up" and have their own irl pastor can do so, perhaps leading to the establishment of a brick and mortar congregation. I don't look forward to traveling for the ordination ceremonies, but I'll be able to do so when the funds start growing.

@SuperLutheran Gotta be honest, sounds like we need allies. I know pastors IRL who do 3 services every Sunday each 30min drive apart, and another who does alternate Sundays with two congregations 90min apart. It's rough on everyone. I can't imagine being able to keep that up for baptisms, let alone the international audience. I guess in the meantime people can still attend existing churches, in addition to whatever they end up doing.Deacons good. Ordination good. Chaplain > Deacon > Pastor good.I can tell you've thought about this, too bad it's all so hard. This whole time must be very rough on you and your family, you're in my prayers.

@SuperLutheran If I knew minions who were willing to do grunt work for you is there anything that you need help doing? Even if it's "rough this in so I can polish it later"? A VA might make things a little easier on you.I know you know people who want to get into ministry or have experience in producing resources, they might be able to help.

@yearsofincense Oh it can be hard at times, and I certainly appreciate all the prayers I can get!Right now, as far as "grunt work" is concerned, we're at an early stage, so the work hasn't reeeeally started for the people in house churches. When these are established, then we're looking at evangelism (perhaps starting from dissident right groups), set-up, coordinating between our guys, etc. Right now what I need the most are guys who want to be lay leaders/deacons, who also want to start their own house church. Guys that are willing to do some homework and work with me to get certified.
