@tpfaff100 I travel there, so you don't have to!I think he was making a specific point to Kathy Griffin. Lots of impersonations and frauds happening of YouTube celebs. I think it's a fair idea. He is really pushing towards monetizing the blue checks and giving competition to YouTube.Plus there have been so many Elon accounts springing up lately...

@Mahchoo Lots of people don't notice, and then get taken by a fundraising scam. I hear YouTube providers warning about that all the time. It seems very difficult to get rid of them on old Twitter. Especially if you are NOT blue checked. And many legit accounts could never be blue checked because of their political leanings.

@troubledjoe I think Elon has much bigger plans, obviously with a lot of money behind them. By having a level based on authentication, he can open it up for monetization and competition with PayPal as well as YouTube. It will be interesting seeing how it progresses, I wouldn't count it out right now.But it won't have the anonymity or free speech of the Fediverse.
