       Honestly, I aint even mad at people for saying horrible things to journalists.They've been "journalists" like the writers for der strumer or pravda have been journalists. They're liars who actively try to destroy people's basic human rights. We've all watched them spew hate as the establishment has ordered them to for years.I wouldn't want them nearby any more than I'd want a nazi brownshirt nearby.

       @sj_zero Journalists identify themselves out of ego. It's no question who wants to change the world by shaping the news.The question is, do you believe those same megalomaniacs when they call people "brownshirts"? Because that seems to be a common affliction, and it gets people silenced and jailed, despite the incongruity.

       This February, I was called a Racist Sexist Misogynistic Homophobic Transphobic American Russian for supporting a group asking my government to start respecting human rights, and the media went with it without any delay.So yeah, let's just say they're not high on the list of trusted sources.

       @sj_zero it’s interesting how media became conglomerated and then (especially the case here in Canada) government has now dipped their hands into the media through throwing taxpayer money at supposedly private and independent news orgs.CBC has had some good traditions, I liked Hockey Night in Canada and CBC Radio 3. At least they often had less commercials. But now Global gets taxpayer money to import American content for entertainment and parrot the party line on the news shows.

       I remember Greenwald recently talking about when Trump called the news media the enemy of the media. Greenwald said that even though it was troubling that a head of state would say something like that, it's more troubling that what he was saying was true.It's also not unprecedented. You can go back before the 1900s and find quotes by former presidents calling out newspapers as being scum. But at least back then, there were a lot of competing papers from different towns and cities, and people had to argue about what they thought was true or not. Today it's corpo press tied to government ... there are real journalists: Rebel News, Andy Ngo, Patrick Lancaster .. people who literally risk shit to get real coverage of events.

       There's definitely a distinction to be made. I'd be upset if someone like that were treated the same as the tools of an authoritarian establishment.
