Some of the (beech) trees have lost all of their leaves. These trees, at the southern end of the forest, get the prevailing winds from the south-west. The leaves get blown off.I'll be sad to see the last of the autumn colours disappearing. I love winter, but, it is a monochrome season. I do like a little colour in my life.#DogWalk #Highlands #Scotland

A little further into the forest (protected from the wind) the trees have retained many more leaves. The soil conditions may also have an effect.Despite the weather being good (for November) we had the whole forest to ourselves. Blooper."Iain, how much longer do we have to do this photography lark?"[YAWN]Joking aside, Gruoch is an excellent photo dog. She understands about stopping when I photograph, and she reacts to cues when I ask her to stand in a particular way. Having a mostly white dog is also a huge advantage in most shooting conditions. Only snowy conditions are a challenge.#DogWalk #Highlands #Scotland #Gruoch #dogs #photo #photography

@bruno Yes, the extremes of contrast can be a problem. However, at least, in snow one can *see* a black dog. On gloomy (non-snowy) winter days it was difficult to even see #Neachdainn. https://mstdn.io/@fitheach/103016398645449030

@fitheach Don't give me any ideas. Instead of Peppa or Isla, only Spot for both... ๐Ÿ˜‚ No, if I shoot pictures of my dogs within the snow (only snow around, nothing else), the dog is only a black spot in the picture. You don't have any contrast within the dog. But a lot of contrast between dog and snow... ๐Ÿ˜‰

There was no wind at ground level. However, there must've been wind at cloud level, as they were moving fast. No sooner would I see some lovely light on trees/mountains/loch/whatever than it would be gone again. This was the only lovely light I managed to capture. This Sunday, and last, have delivered great weather. We've been so lucky. Next Sunday will be the eve of a big project, so, no special photo trip can be attempted.End.#DogWalk #Highlands #Scotland #photo #photography #landscape
