       @jeanettehmarsh'Instance' is tech jargon for a copy of some software (eg Mastodon) running on a computer. In the fediverse, an instance is a ball of wax made up of the software running on the server, the admin(s) running it and doing moderation, and the community of people using it. Clear as mud?
