       Quite a concept, the gravity train is: don't expend power on traversing the curved surface of a planet; no, dig a tunnel straight through and let the gravity of the center propel you. So I decided to make this little illustration.#art #MastoArt #illustration #digitalart #scifi #sciencefiction #science #futurism #futurology #futurism #future

       @adamasnemesis Friction and air resistance mean that you need power to get all the way back to the surface. Of course, you can minimize these: magnets to float the train and vacuum to lower air resistance. But never to zero. I'm sure someone has done the math to figure the power required, but it's certainly far less than doing it on the normal way.

       @adamasnemesis gravity not only accelerates you, but applies the "regen" brakes too! So a frictionless (maglev) train track could go back and forth with negligible energy consumption despite stopping at either end to let people on and off, like a playground swing set or skate park half pipe.

       @billblake2018 Indeed.
