First toot after moving instance (thanks mastodon.me.uk for having me) is a plea for recent Twitter converts like me to start adding image descriptions (aka alt-text). They aren't just an accessibility feature for people using screen readers, they're an accessibility feature for all users.Let me explain why: they don't just tell unsighted people what's in your image, they also tell sighted people what you think is the important information in an image. Tap the 3 images to find out more. 1/2

Any description - even a short one like 'A screenshot of the MetaText captioning screen' for any of the images would be better than nothing. There's no right or wrong way to do this so long as you are providing information about your image to unsighted users that lets them know what it shows. Think about what's most important for them - and sighted users - to know. Tell them that at the minimum. Don't go overboard unless you need to. 2/2

PS. If you're still on Twitter, do this there too! They made it a lot easier to do this and more visible to users relatively recently.
