@liaizon I thought this particular part was pretty bad faith. You need to view a profile externally, on the accounts home instance to see that information much of the time (if it's not hidden by the user's choice). Im sure many of us figure this out as well, trying to find people to follow. The author could've asked any experienced fediverse user about this before putting that in the article. Instead they make out like it's just a roadblock you can't get around feeding into this weird idea that it's "too hard to find people"

@liaizon@social.wake.st The people fleeing twitter are in for a culture shock. I expect that some of them are going to flee back to twitter because of it. Some will also flee back due to not getting the dopamine hit that they would normally get from twitter. But we'll see how bad it is in a few months.

@liaizon Nah, just wait a few more weeks until the NPCs have something else to be angry about, and they'll just move back to Shitter again.As long as they're not banned from there, they will return.Just look at how it went back in 2017 when Japanese artists moved from Shitter to Mastodong over getting banned for posting ero drawings (this is when I got to know about Mastodong, as it appeared all over the Japanese news sites at the time, especially Yahoo and IT Media).After a while, the whole Mastodong craze dried up, and most just returned to Shitter, few remained on whichever instance they were on or moved to Pawoo because friends.nico shut its doors, and mstdn.jp and Pawoo got taken over by someone else, and some ended up using both Shitter and Mastodong.

If other instances want to implement it and cut themselves off from a large number of instances so be it, but that's probably going to hurt your user experience in the end.
