@geotechland I saw a conversation thread suggesting that someone should start an instance just for members of the media, as that might be a more approachable path for them into the fediverse, which I thought had some merit.

@mral Good problem to have. That's just a money problem. The bigger concern is making the federation aspect of it understandable enough so people stick around.

@tilvids agreed. The one thing that helped me get past the "how to control hate speech or people promoting dangerous nonsense?" question was when I found out about "any instance can de-federate another instance to protect its members". They can still talk nonsense but nobody has to listen.

@mral Right. And at the same time, individuals can still follow people from other instances directly and see their content. This is why decentralization is the ONLY real solution to the problems on social media now.
