Some of the worst debates on technology are about trust and worrying about trust for one solution, but not the other.* Twitter admins vs Mastodon Admins reading my DM.* Banks vs some Autor of a Blockchain software.* App developers creating a working as secure docker-container, snap, ... Vs trusting distro maintainers or the random guy who wrote the aur-package.In all of those cases, if you make trust part of your argument, please be honest about both solutions requiring trust.

What I see happening all the time is: "use Blockchain, so that you don't have to trust banks", "use snap, so that you don't have to trust the aur-author", "use Twitter, so that you don't have to trust the mastodon admins"Always omitting, that trust is still required, without argument, why this trust should be the lesser evil.
