Elon is firing all Twitter employees saying that the losses forces him to, and the right wingers think it's because he's firing all the "woke staff". LMAO.Elon is now saying that the cut in profit is because of "activism against the platform". Like, not wanting to spend $8/mo for having a blue checkmark on your profile name is now called "activism against the platform" and pressuring investors to not invest on Twitter. It has nothing to do with the fact that he's screwing up big time taking the wrong actions. But I love seeing Twitter finally going on fire. It was about time...

@szkodnix First result I found in English: https://www.euronews.com/next/2022/11/04/twitter-temporarily-closes-offices-as-elon-musk-begins-mass-layoffsYou can probably find it in more media. I think it should also be in one of his tweets, haven't checked because honestly, I don't even care anymore.

@enigmatico I'll wait to see if Elon can do anything useful with Twitter. It is easy to say one thing while doing something entirely different. Who knows? Destroying twitter as a centralized point of controlling social media company may be the aim or it may be unintentional.

@doomsdayrs It wouldn't have died by itself, it needed someone to push it and Elon did it.

@teknomunk It would be dope if he spent $44 billion USD just to destroy it. But I don't think so. I think he wanted to manipulate the market to buy it at a lower price or reduce it's stock price so that other stocks increased, it went wrong, he was legally forced to buy it, and now he's attempting to 'damage control' his own pocket by milking money out of it while it's people is fleeing from there.

@enigmatico I don't he bought it to destroy it either, though I see it within the realm of possibility.I do suspect he went into it expecting to lose money on it (his claim of bringing freedom to the public square is opposed to milking the public square for money). It is certainly not going the way he (or anyone else) expected. Nothing every does.

@teknomunk @enigmatico My question is whether it's going the way anyone wanted it to>ADL gets everyone to hate the Musk deal so they have leverage over him and can maintain control over the public discourse>Musk agrees to their terms>Too late, nobody uses twitter anymore as everyone is on fedi, which they have less control over

@ForbiddenDreamer @teknomunk @enigmatico The internet in general was already headed towards some kind of balkanization, and the Twitter situation will only accelerate this. The ADL (and others) clearly overplayed their hand, and confirmed the stereotypes that Kanye and Kyrie were exposing. Elon Musk closed the Tesla PR department a while ago, and only really used Twitter to communicate with Tesla owners. I see this as a strange kind of vertical integration where he not only sells a product (his cars) but also owns the marketing and PR side of the business (soon to be Twitter). I don't see Musk as in any way "based" here, but I could see how he would benefit from having a major social media company that advertised his products, and did things his way. Any limits on speech are probably due more to EU regulations, and avoiding tarnishing his core brands.

@enigmatico it’s wild. It usually take years, even a decade for companies to collapse like this. You need a special kind of talent to blow up everything in a week

@mofumofu The talent is believing you're a god just because you have a couple of billions of US dollards and pretend you can do anything with money. AKA being a complete idiot.
