@stux Yes, the fediverse needs to be a federation, not a few big fish (overtaxing resources there) and lots of small instances. Since that might not happen automatically, some such management might be needed. Interesting issue, not easy.

@stux seems like the system should be able to do automatic load balancing. Why do I care which physical server I’m on if it’s all federated? Are some servers slower or more resource constrained than others? If so how would I know which is a “good” server to join?
