I’m researching #accessible Mastodon stand-alone clients for a forthcoming podcast episode. There are several truly excellent choices out there for iOS including Metatext, Toot and Mercury. Great that we have choices like everyone else.

@JonathanMosen Fedi developers do seem to care about accessibility. There are a bunch of really well informed folks who have been advocating for it, and a lot of progress has been made. I encourage you to give detailed feedback on any problems you come across so they can be fixed.

@JonathanMosen Just please be kind, even if it gets frustrating. Most of our devs are volunteers doing it for the love of the community. They're sometimes better coders than communicators, but they're doing their best to accommodate a wide variety of user needs. I have seen a couple of people act like customers and treat devs like obstructive corporate employees, and although I sympathize with the frustration of things not being usable for them, that approach is counterproductive at best.

@strypey @JonathanMosen Kia ora Strypey, valid points raised in your first toot. but the second one was for me... eh? what?! Can I suggest that someone with Jonathan's life experience, who became a Member of the NZ Order of Merit for services to the blind & disability community, and who has lived a lifetime of access issues, is not in need of being told to 'be kind' and get the 'volunteers' speech when you're responding to his very positive and grateful toot!

@strypey It is culturally inappropriate for you to tell me how to respond to discrimination I encounter. And somewhat presumptuous of you to think I require advice after half a century of lived experience and decades of advocacy.
