What is causing all of these layoffs? This is very stressful.

@riamaria we're entering a recession, and when they write about it later they'll note it started a while ago. The US Fed raised interest rates to essentially force a recession to happen. Companies started by trying to force people back into the office in the hopes that some would quit. Now it's just layoff time. Capitalists try to pretend the line only goes up, but it crashes every 15 years and we all pay for it. We can do better, but we've also been here before.

I'm not sure why you mentioned capitalists .. this type of thing happens always in every system. Companies trying to get people back in office didn't really have anything to do with trying to get people to quit. Long term work-form-home at this scale is really not sustainable. Maybe for well established dinosaur companies, but you're not going to really get new interesting ideas (and I say that as someone who works remote for a company that's entire business model is facilitating remote work with every co-worker being spread across the planet ... I do it for the money)The recession started because of the insane, illegal and immoral lockdowns that literally didn't do a damn thing except destroy our world and gave birth to a bunch of entitled shitheads who are now afraid of absolutely everything.
