The good side of fedi:- Decentralized (if one instance goes down, the network still works).- Free as in freedom.- No algorithms (you see what there is, not what a machine wants you to see).- No "clasism". Everyone is worth the same here. There are no influencer shit or clout chasing.- People actually interacts with you. And its usually real people. Though rarely a bot might pop up on your notifications (but its very rare and they usually get banned quickly).- Has a lore (twitter doesnt have any history because nobody cares about anyone there).- Catgirls.

One thing though.Do not open the global timeline for too long. Your brain might explode. Its a side effect of having actual millions of users all talking at the same time, without an algorithm cherry picking messages for you.Start with people on your instance and your neighbour instances and then from there start following other people.Its actually easy to find people to follow but its true that newcomers might be a little bit lost if they dont have any assistance and they dont know how networking with people works :ablobcatknitsweats:

@enigmatico Also a lot of bots that don't get banned are usually really fun bots that do cool things.Fedi has a nice bot culture unlike most other social media site.

Is there a bad side to fedi? Well, of course! Everything has a good and a bad side.- Fediblock drama- Free speech drama- Most if not all server implementations can be a little bit "lacky" in some areas and have issues- The whole concept might be a little bit complex and hard to understand for newcomers- Sometimes the federation might go "derp" and your messages might not reach everyone, even when not blocked, or they do reach other servers... one year too late (maybe one year is a bit of an exaggeration but, a couple hours late)- Most servers are ready for small communities of people so they might not withstand a large influx of people (every time people flees from twitter, most servers start lagging).But overall, I'd say the benefits greatly outweight the cons because nowadays, most of these issues are bearable.

@gravitos Yeah there is a lot of story in this network. Notorious users that come and go, instances that also come and go, drama, spambots... It's been quite a lot of years and stuff happens in such a big span of time.
