       It's so weird. As I've been spending more time on Mastodon, not once has someone  mocked me and told me to "cry moar". I thought that's how social media works these days.

       @helix2301 @mmasnick As speeds increased the sounds got more annoying, but 300 baud and 1200 baud connect noises were pleasing to my ear.

       @mmasnick It's extremely refreshing. While I miss the great friends I have on Twitter, I'm finding myself with less and less interest in returning there to check in. I hope it's a sign that Mastodon has hit that critical mass point.

       @Em0nM4stodon @pollak @mmasnick I agree with @Ricardus mastadon feels like the old days of internet where you went on to talk on news groups our alt.binaries everyone was very bright and good interesting conversation because the complexity of using internet at that time weeded out most of the crazies

       @helix2301 @Em0nM4stodon @pollak @mmasnick @Ricardus I found Usenet circa 1990. People weren't always nice, and there were certainly flame wars. But there weren't bots and mindless "drive-by" attacks by strangers. The signal to noise ratio was a lot higher.
