Who remembers this beauty? I think it was THIS particular TDK SA that made me fall in love with #cassettes, and later #mixtapes. The first one I remember touching was from my uncle's collection, and he let me tape the first Boston record (on vinyl). His stereo was RIDICULOUSLY high end. Such wonderful memories. There are several of these in this haul, from various years, but this specific model is special.

@killyourfm These were nice, but I was a Maxell XLII loyalist. :) The last brick of those I bought had a label that said “Great for recording CDs!” That was a moment in time, for sure.

You'll find different answers, but to me a mixtape is a carefully assembled and loving crafted collection of songs that are meant to fit a theme, or express an emotion, or capture a moment in time. They are personal, and they are sequenced in a way that the next song just "sounds right." I made a mixtape for my then-future wife called "Love Is A Mixtape." But I also made one for ME, full of downtempo music, to help me relax.

@revivalrecords DUDE. That's exactly what I'm doing with this series of mixtapes I started making. Carefully curate the playlist on Spotify, then record it to Logic Pro, then crossfade tracks better than Spotify will, then sprinkle in some flavor clips that match the mood, then record to tape. After that, I split the file into Side A + B mp3s with the intent of sharing them. Just not sure where/how to do that yet. Even doing my own AI-generated album covers. I love it!
