       @Jarno Complete control. You can do and say anything you want as long as you can find a hosting provider willing to host it. Fediverse instances (especially on this side of the network) also tend to participate in drama regarding instance blocks; Instance A will block Instance B with over 1,000 users over the actions of one, and then tell instances C through Z that if they don't block B, they will be blocked as well. Having your own instance means you aren't bound by drama that happened potentially years before your arrival. You get banned from various servers based on your own merits.
