       @freon sort of! while it does have the same basic function of surrounding the content with a glow since it's still on the screen itself it doesn't actually help with eyescreen, the reason that bias lighting is important is because of the contrast between your screen and the area around it. like, for example, you're watching a show with the lights off. your eyes, having only one source of brightness with vast darkness around it, has to strain a lot with what's basically an information overload; which results in eyes hurty. bias lighting avoids that by matching the commonly used color for white in the film industry (6500k) and pushing it outwards behind your display to illuminate the surroundings a little bit. that's why youtube's glow effect doesn't really count, because that contrast is still there
