One thing that is surprising is that the defense is NOT using the insanity defense, at least not so far. They genuinely want to show there isn't enough evidence. How are they doing that? 1/""They point out that Dana Rivers' DNA is not found on the firearms. They claim that the fact that Rivers used gloves isn't sufficient, because Rivers' had a cut and was bleeding all over the house. They also said that DNA from an unknown person was found in the house 2/""so it sounds like they are trying to insinuate that some other random person was involved in the killing. Three witnesses were called: the neighbor who made the police call, and the first two police who came to the scene of the crime. Defense keeps trying to nitpick to find 3/""inconsistencies. Both defense and prosecution mention how Reed met Rivers at a veterans' thing, and the latter invited the former to a women's motorcycle club. Reed left the club and Rivers was upset, turning this friendship tumultuous. 4/""Nothing trans-related is brought up at all. Rivers is referred to as a woman in an "all-female" motorcycle club. The prosecution paints Rivers as the "enforcer" of this group. The defense tries making this motorcycle group out to be a bunch of harmless middle-aged women. 5/""There is a lot of back and forth between the lawyers and the cop witnesses about 2 noises that were heard from the victims' home. The defense wants to show that there was noise *after* Rivers was arrested, but that conflicts with the initial police report. 6/""hmmm maybe this is a problem when you wait for so long to have a trial? People's memories fade? There was seriously so much hairsplitting about the recollection of certain details blah blah. 7/""They showed graphic footage of Rivers' arrest and of the police body cams. Also discussion/display of the various items found, including two guns. The defense is trying to poke holes into the narrative that the guns belonged to Rivers or could have been used by Rivers. 8/""I expect more later when more expert witnesses testify. Stay tuned. Sorry if this thread is disorganized. 9/""A few more things from the prosecution: Rivers has a tattoo with a similar grip/laser as one of the guns. That gun also was found with a silencer. @AnungIkwe yeah I read about this earlier tonight. Before I was worried that they wouldn't have enough to convict or he'd pull insanity. Seems like a no on both fronts. Dude's fucked.
