@josh now with peasant insurance you will have to find a company willing to grant you the policy - that could be tricky because there is a great deal of risk involved, and a bunch of reasons on how you must die to have the policy fulfilled. There was a scheme in the 90s where those dying of AIDS would take out a large policy and write a group of investors as the beneficiary - some of the policies were worth millions. The holders would then give the dying man loads of cash to spend and live a nice life before they died. Once dead their "investment" would triple or be worth 10 times what they gave the dying man. Then they came up with these AIDS cocktails which prolonged their lives. So now the investors money, they thought would get back plus profits, wasn't happening, the men stopped dying, or lived several more years. Which threw many of the investors into bankruptcy. The point here is you can come up with just about any policy scheme, if you are willing to pay for it, or stay within the guidelines of the contract. Insurance companies are in the business to make money, they are really the safest investment. However, like insurance is not the best way to invest. Great for the agent and company but not for the consumer. If you want a $10M policy you will pay a lot and there will be very strict guidelines. You can do what JMC does and have a company take out an insurance policy on you. Lot of banks do this using the military.

@josh I'd say - just off the top of my head, if you want $10M over 20 years you'll have to shell out about 1/4 to 1/3 and wait for it to mature before dying - so you'd have to live at least another 20 years. If someone take a policy out on you, the terms would have to be the same, unless as a non-profit that have some special deal with their broker. You'd do want to talk to a insurance broker, maybe you have one in your family. It's a very scamy business, like Nigerian Prince scamy, so you want to do due diligence before you sign up and hand any money to anyone.

@josh for a $10M policy, that will run you $200+k a year annually, for 20 years. Void if death by suicide. Course, if you were a farmer... not sure Kiwi farming count, but farmer insurance is pretty easy to get. and the payouts can be quite high, with a lower annuals. So if you wanted Farmers insurance for say an Organic or Biodynamic Farm - which are nonprofits, you might be able to swing that.

@josh last one - money is a funny business, and fait is even funnier - insurance, banks, lawyers, the government are all going to take a big bite out of whatever you leave. so say goodbye to probably 1/3 of what ever you leave in paper. If you instead buy gold, you can simply name the beneficiary and if you do it right no lawyers or government need know, unless the recipient reports it. It's why families would pass down grandma's silver. You didn't use it to eat, it was an investment, emergency, a down payment. It was honest money and once you used it, you could buy it back in 3 to 10 years. Well, before the soft hands came in. At the PEACH, we will restore that tradition of trade. sorry I went on...
