       @r000t I spent a couple solid days on here figuring out the whole lay of the land and getting settled.  Went back to check on some feeds, and I had zero desire to stay on the site beyond that.  Things felt super forced in comparison to this, and obviously the shitstorm of chuds has been unleashed.All that to say - it won't be hard.

There's also definitely some inter-instance drama between them.You always have the option of muting entire instances from your user account. But they do exist, and I hope their coexistence doesn't hamper your experience.)

       @r000t oh I’m well aware and can only imagine how hard some of those instances go. But as long as the system doesn’t break, I’m highly digging the concept of instance blocking and potential self-containment as well.  (To the point that those concepts will absolutely drive/keep me here.).  That instance homing seems to be really key in your experience.  I could see a lot of people frustrated with having to jump instances to find a groove/community though.

       @regulartacos Well that last part only really becomes difficult if either you or a remote community are blocked by the other. That's why I firmly believe these tools should be wielded by *users* and not instance admins. You can, for example, just view the local timeline of a remote community by going to example.tld/public/local (if it runs Mastodon), and some clients will let you add arbitrary instance timelines as a tab or column.

       @r000t Regardless of Elon's success or lack thereof on Twitter, we should use this as an opportunity to promote federated protocols. They are the ultimate solution to a great many of the problems with social media.
