@Terry best I can understand it is that israel is planning to attack iran and iran made clear that if that happens they will hit saudi oil and desalination plants in response, which is being put out by western media as 'iran determined to strike within KSA'. The shantytown of erbil is also mentioned and the kurds are of course another american proxy in the region. It looks like tehran is laying out that if they are attacked directly they will hit a full spectrum of american assets in response.

@JohnnyHubert @Terry Honestly it's a pretty solid threat. If Iran was actually able to hit Saudi Arabia and cripple their oil wells and refineries, whole global economy goes up shit creek. Oil balloons to over 300 dollars a barrel, and I'm probably underselling it.

@GatorTime @Terry assuming that shahed 136 is a geran 2 analogue, and how much trouble western air defense is having with it, yeah that's pretty credible. Saudi is in the process of making a nuclear deal with the russians, which is what makes me doubt a lot of this. That said its the media saying that evil country is doing evil things so context is necessary. Washington has made it very clear in the past week that they have no prospects of returning to good faith negotiations with Iran and that a military option is the primary one under consideration, so I'm guessing that the Iranians know what is coming and are trying to deter it. Good logic, but sadly not useful against the empire of chaos, since we don't give a shit about burning down local proxies.

@JohnnyHubert @Terry I wouldn't be surprised if we launched missiles against Saudi Arabia, both as a fuck you because they told Biden to get fucked, and also to spite them for trying to deal with the Russians. Our military leaders have zero ability to think ahead and absolutely zero ability to strategize. I'm convinced there isn't a single general currently employed that could beat a kid with down syndrome in a checkers match.

@GatorTime @Terry foreign policy is made by 26 year olds and it shows. I would not put anything past the people in foggy bottom these days. Look at pakistan, we overthrow khan, put in our puppet and within months hes become deeply adversarial to american interests in southwest asia. Usually when you stage a coup its so that the new guy is friendly. My guess is with KSA we will try some more arab spring type stuff, that scares the hell out of their government

@GatorTime @JohnnyHubert @Terry I'm not shocked. Kicker is that the saudis literally can't fulfill the US's request so all this is just malarky. You can't just demand an increase in production for midterms and then the magic oil fairies will just snap their fingers and boom you got oil. Refineries and rigs have to know in advance what to produce through the year and in fact they initially decreased this year's production on the assumption that biden wouldn't be a total retard and ramp up production a bit.
