'Buying a blue tick' is just ridiculous :sad_cat: Not everyone on the network can affort paying money for something in-your-face like a :verified: badge.Donation should always be optional for people who want to and more important, can miss it!❤️Personally I find that the verification symbol has become too much of a 'status symbol' already instead of what it it was meant for. Do not feel pressured to buy anything that's not needed! You decide, not a billionaire

@stux I think when you want to be trusted as a comany or 'famous' you should get a own domain and host your own Mastodon server on it. For example Just like social.network.europa.eu but maybe a bit shorter.

@stux agree completely. I don't feel the need to be verified and especially not to pay for the privilege. I can see a move towards subscriptions for exclusive/and free content and mandatory advert viewing before you can access content.

@stux Also, their verification methodology needs serious work. I meet the qualifications, I filled out the application correctly with all the required materials--and still I was rejected!

@stux I always thought the blue check mark should mean that the name that used on Twitter was your real name and it should not be about status. And then add a setting in the Twitter client to only show verified content. I would be happy to pay a few bucks a month for that.

@stux they're all little Muttleys... <medal, medal , medal!> I've read an article quite some time ago reporting that William Shatner tried Mastodon then left because there was no uniqueness for his account (there can be another William Shatner in another instance) ... so let this people pay for the blue tick, that's what they want, just another way to stand above others.
