       @deprecated_ii yep. Management by convenience rather than effect. I've seen people laid off because they had weird payroll from some account's mistake. I've seen people laid off because they (despite being one of the best people in the entire organization) were reshuffled into a team whose role ended a while later.It's easy to let spreadsheets and org charts make decisions for you. It's easy to tell a story like "well we don't need this team anymore :)" It's hard to know what your people are capable of. Want to cut 25% of staff? Just sort employees by how long your locked-down corporate chat system says that they were automatically idle. Intent: fire "quiet quitters". Reality: fire people who don't gossip and spam useless meetings.

       I love how this guy assumes that businesses hire people just for funzies and your typical non-Twitter company can't just shitcan 25% of the staff and remain an economically viable entity.Twitter had become an adult daycare and was just going to piss away the rest of its equity and run out of debt in a few years. Transforming it into an actual company by sending the kiddies home to their mommies is all Elon can do if he has any hope of getting a fraction of his money back, someday.
