It bears reminding for those coming from #TwitterMigration that the #fediverse is still subject to many of the ills of #SocialMedia in general, including and not limited to heated drama and inconsistent moderation (as a whole). The difference is that YOU have more control, by the choice of instance(s) and content you dis/associate with. It is essential that Y'ALL use that freedom wisely and make fediverse a better place for all.Don't forget to write an #introduction, and Happy #Halloween!

@a I think having all those different servers is a great strength of the Fediverse.I'm here on mastodon.art, and it's like a twitter for artists, which I reckon feels very different from being a lone artist in the giant cesspool that is original Twitter. There's a sense of community that Twitter could never hope to achieve.

@yamiyume And that's because people have more freedom to do things, so we're agreeing here, but someone needs to create the community in the first place, and others need to be able to find/join it, so the key here is mostly the people and not the platform. Twitter and the fediverse as a whole will never be one community, and I don't think it's particularly improbable, if one has the willpower, to create similar communities within Twitter.
