@dgh @graf tbh fediverse is great because it isn't JUST that. Alt-tech platforms are almost always a monoculture. Fediverse is wildly varied between instances and the content is far more fun as a result. That and politics is simply not possible to get away from on twitter. Here you can fairly easily do so.

@RustyCrab @graf that's true to an extent. however, for most people it's a question of convenience and association. on twitter there's a lot of important thing going on. just by sheer volume, people can always see what they want. fediverse instances are useful, but quite niche in comparison. because of that, it will always be the relatively underground option. maybe another platform will vastly overtake twitter in its function someday, and flip this on its head, but i don't think it's one currently existing today, even if the fediverse has much better QoL features
