@TexOffender I have a theory that spergs and autists would have been 1. more rare than they are now and 2. taken up roles as healers, shamans, wise men/women in the past.There are so many autists and spergs now because our biology is desperately trying to get us to correct course.

@WhiteTemplar @TexOffender I am quite the autist, but I think any other time in history I would be a soldier. What you suggest sounds really lame to me. Anyway, I think there are a lot of autists for several reasons. First, genetic: there is a lower mortality rate across the board so unhealthy genes are more likely to accumulate. Second, natal: women having children are older and older, which is associated with autism, plus there is also evidence that birth control damage the reproductive cycle. Third, chemical: there are a lot of mystery chemicals in the environment that we don't know the effects of, and many of the ones we do know the effects of are quite bad for healthy human development. Fourth, social: people's connections with other people are at an all time low, which leads to isolation and an overall degradation of social skills.I don't think autism like characteristic LS are really a positive or or somehow corrective thing, although it may be associated with other good traits.

@TexOffender Not really. The babies would appear fairly normal and only really differentiate themselves later in life as weird. Non-functional autists simply wouldn't have made it and either would have been cast out of the group for being useless or drifted away from the group on their own and became weird hermits. The vast majority of autists though would have be capable of some level of social interaction and their ability to notice patterns would have been a boon to the tribe. There is no reason to believe then that autists didn't procreate, though I am guessing they didn't get the prettiest girls.

@Apollonian_Differential @TexOffender There is new data that suggests that autism may be the result of increased exposure to testosterone during pregnancy meaning that your chemical theory is probably correct and something in the environment is making women produce more testosterone.

@WhiteTemplar @TexOffender Makes sense, autism is sometimes characterised as an ultra male brain. Generally though, I see autism as a case of something going wrong with the growth process in general because of the association between autism and parent age.
