#ClimateCrisis does not only mean hotter, drier or wetter weather. It means that tropical diseases will spread, #food security is at risk (meaning higher food prices!) and hunger crises become more common. This will lead to civil unrest (as we learn from #history), fuelling trade issues and higher prices for goods. The increase of #poverty will affect all of us, sooner or later. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/oct/25/global-health-fossil-fuels-climate-oil-gas-food-energy-cost-of-living

@dr_norb Or long story story: More unpredictability/more extremes in a lot of domains.

@dr_norb The Climate Change project also, if I understand this correctly, makes for more extreme weather inasmuch as more and more energy is being dumped into the system. We're seeing that with wildfires, etc.

@Kencf618033 Wildfires come because flammable plant matter is dry, and gets incinerated (usually by people). The weather extremes come because warmer air can take up more water. As long as it can it does, so it's drier, but when it rains, then it pours.

@neglesaks Exactly! And what farmers or any business owner can't really use is unpredictability. The higher the risk of crop (or any investment) failure, either the higher the prices or the lesser the chance of an investment in the first place.

@neglesaks Indeed. In the past, #civilizations collapsed if they had to face not only one but several major issues at once (often interconnected though), such as an #epidemic, #crop failure, the collapse of infrastructure (earthquake, flood, fire), war, or the breakup of trade routes.Today, we have many trade routes and better and more resilient #infrastructure but we are far from being safe, because there are many people incapable of handling higher energy or food prices.

@dr_norb Yep / sorry if this end up as a vigiorously nodding agree-fest here 😜😜 😜 ; this is true. Just look how the war in Ukraine (a somewhat unexpected disruptive event blocking amongst other things, ~30% of the worlds Wheat supply from making it to market) put a large part of the African population in danger of acute food insecurity.

@_skycaptain@nicecrew.digital I don't condone the use of homophobic swearwords. We can discuss issues like adults, or I will block you.

Isn't this what the WEF fags have been promising - massive famine and pestilence to cull back the rabble? They're doing it for all the wrong reasons, but the fact is that many third world populations depend on infant mortality from disease and starvation as their only form of birth control. I'm having some trouble picking a side here :/
