       Here's another #UX foible on @Mastodon adding a #hashtag to your profile. The restriction is that you can't add a hashtag you haven't previously used: fair enoughWhere on this screen is this explained? Classic UX example of 'the error text isn't helpful". All you need to do is change this text to "Featured hashtags must be used before adding to your profile". If there is ALSO a parsing error, fine, expand the text or improve the error handing to support both strings.

       @scottjenson While I agree, the reason is that this is a generic error message. (https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/blob/f8ca3bb2a1dd648f41e8fea5b5eb87b53bc8d521/config/locales/en.yml) A specific error handling and dedicated sting will have to be implemented to fix that.
