The silver lining is that the new boss detests how the old guard did things, so bots, mass censorship of political ideas and other single issue problems will likely dissipateIt will not, however, be a free speech platform by any means

       @ChristiJunior I believe Elon's being sincere in his favorability of free speech, but he's faced with a really difficult balancing act of expanding speech parameters while withstanding retaliation from powerful Jews. I would expect only modest improvements at first in terms of range of expression but significant improvements in terms of the basics of how the site is run.

       @ChristiJunior @alyx I think it might start out better but over time the rest of silicon valley will clamp down on them harder than ever. It'll be just like trump where dspite being "based" at the end of his term, a woman could get raped by a tranny and couldn't complain about it. There's more forces than the obvious working here.

I replied to her quoted a witness at the Rittenhouse trial that testified that he stood on a flatbed trailer and said,  "I'm going to kill all you niggers!".

       @ryo But web used to be decentralized (and also atomized) and federated long time before the expansion of centralized services.The progress is not linear, but branching. And we are on one of the branches, which will bring us to totalitarian regimes with decentralized surveillance.Sometimes we need to go back and choose a different branch.@ChristiJunior @xianc78

       @pancakewwwww @ChristiJunior @xianc78 Good point.Centralization is guaranteed to be tyrannical, but decentralization depends on how it's done.Why else would the big centralizers be so "pro-decentralization" right?Same as what I said a couple months ago; the problem isn't technology advancing, the problem is the direction technology is advancing into.
